CHOOSING YOUR PRESCRIPTION spectaclES
Following your eye examination the Optician may have determined that you would benefit from a prescription. You can decide whether you would like Spectacles or Contact lenses and in some cases people opt for both as it suits their lifestyle.
There are many frames and lens options available when choosing Spectacles and our Optician can advise you on the various styles and materials of lens that best suit your prescription and which tinits or coatings would be most useful. We have a large selection of frame styles and prices to suit everyone.
If you choose Contact lenses then we have a large selection of high quality brands that we think are market leaders in our industry allowing us to tailor the fitting to each individual accounting for their visual and lifestyle requirements. We also provide Specialist lenses for a variety of Eye Conditions including Keratoconus and Post-Graft Corneas.

lenses
single vision
They have a single prescription over the entire surface of the lens and are suitable to wear in all types of scenarios including driving, working or reading. If you are under the ages of 40-45 years old the single vision lens is often a general use lens that can be worn for most visual activities.
bifocals
Bifocals offer correction for both distance and near vision and the lens surface usually incorporates a segment or line between the different prescriptions. The top part of the lens generally forms the prescription, the top part of the lens generally forms the prescription for distance with the segment or bottom part used for near vision.
varifocals
Varifocal lenses act like a blended bifocal. The transition between the long distance and short distance prescription is invisible and they allow the wearer to view objects at any distance whilst having the appearance of a single vision lens.

Computers have become an indispensable tool with most people spending several hours a day in front of a screen.
Varilux Computer lenses are designed specifically for the computer vision of presbyopes.

anti reflection
Your prescription spectacle lenses will help you see more clearly but for even sharper vision and especially when night driving there are more options available. Lenses coated with anti-reflection lens treatment help remove glare, reflections and reduces eye strain. Cosmetically they also remove the appearance of a lens from the eyes.
tint
Various colours and depths of tint are possible on most lenses, these can be useful if you are sensitive to light or simply for cosmetic effect. We also offer a selection of polarised lenses with various coatings that provide protection from harmful UV rays and block glare from reflected light. These are perfect for situations where there is reflection from a wet road surface when driving or from the surface of water during water-sports or fishing.
Transitions®
Lenses
Transitions® lenses are clear (or nearly clear) when indoors and react to changes in the light darkening or clearing automatically depending on the light conditions.
These lenses reduce eye strain and fatigue from squinting in sunlight and glare is lessened by regulating the amount of light you are exposed to. They make your everyday spectacles work like your favourite sunglasses, a great value for money option for prescription users.
